I very nearly missed this match due to the kick off time. I wish I did! There are simply no excuses, Brentford were the only team on the pitch who deserved anything out of this match.

And yet, United were close to getting all 3 points – which I would have to admit, would have been a travesty of justice.

How any United team can be so easily overwhelmed by a relegation threatened team is simply beyond me and not acceptable. Brentford were allowed over 30 shots on goal. And had they not scored from their last one, they would have nothing to show for their efforts.

Mason Mount’s first goal for United in the 95th minute could, and in reality should, have been the smash and grab winner. All that was needed at that point was to do what the United players had been doing for 95 minutes…hang on. They failed!

Admittedly, the 3 points would probably still not be enough to get United any closer to a CL spot, but bloody hell, fortune just smiled on you, make the best of it!

Once again, questions will be asked about how the team was set up tactically. Overwhelmed in midfield and defensively always in panic, it felt like it was only a matter of time before we conceded. The three up front were toothless against a makeshift Brentford defence. Not good enough.

For ETH, it is increasingly looking likely that winning the FA Cup may be the only way he can save his job. From a tactical perspective, yesterday’s performance was abysmal. I will not delve into individual performances but will say only this – the only player that would get anything above a 3 from me yesterday would be Onana….Numquam Moribimur!
