Just 3 days after the Lyon miracle, Wolves came to OT and emerged victorious with a well taken free kick late in the match. It was the first-ever loss on an Easter Sunday at home and although I managed to watch just snippets in between and Easter lunch that went on and on, I do not think we deserved to lose this one – but that is what happens when you are completely toothless in attack!

As promised, Amorim fielded a youthful side with several changes in our starting lineup, including the debut of academy graduate Tyler Fredricson in defense. Despite enjoying more possession and gradually improving as the game progressed, United struggled to convert the few chances created. Wolves keeper Dan Bentley, a late replacement for the injured Jose Sa, was in fact rarely tested.

The first half was largely uneventful, with limited clear-cut opportunities. Mainoo went down in the box under pressure, but no pen was awarded. Eriksen’s free-kick was the only shot on target before halftime, saved by Bentley. It was a boring first half devoid of real quality moments.

The second half seemed better as we started to push harder for a breakthrough and Bruno, Mount, and Dalot were sent on around the hour mark. Garnacho created a few chances, but United’s finishing was poor. Mount missed two golden opportunities, including a close-range chance from an Eriksen cross, while Fernandes also failed to capitalize on a late free-kick. Overall, we lacked the much needed incisiveness that wins you matches.

Our main focus till the end of the season is going to be the 2 matches vs Bilbao and rightly so. Glad that we will get the opportunity to see youngsters like Amass and Fredricson being given an opportunity and Obi should start ahead of Hojlund who clearly should not be playing regularly for Manchester United…Numquam Moribimur!
