The first edition of the Echoes magazine for season 2009/2010 has now been posted to all our esteemed Club members. Here's a tatse of the content.
After a short delay due to advertising agency problems and our concentrating on the 50th Anniversary Book, Issue number 1 of the “Echoes from Old Trafford” for season 2009/2010 has been sent to all members. 38 full colour pages of interesting news, views and information, as well as an updated version of the Club’s Statute, and several pictures of the recent Academy Squad’s visit to Malta, ensure that once again our Supporters’ Club can be proud to say that we have produced the best Magazine any local supporters’ organization has published. Volume 37, Issue 1 contains the following articles:
Editorial: In “The Old and the New” the Editor looks at developments in the Club’s personnel and the prospects for season 2009/2010
Our Club’s News: Secretary Chis Grech gives a detailed overview of all activities of our Club’s activities in the months of June to October 2009, including changes in the Committee and all that went on inside and outside the Club’s premises
Two articles by new Committee member Darren Grech, one about the radio programme “Action Replay” produced by the Club for its Members and all United-loving folk, and presented by the same Darren every Thursday evening, as well as a look at what our young football team “Stretford End – Malta” have been up to.
Regular columnist Mark Strijbosch in his article “Reds March Forward” thinks that despite the absence of stars Tevez and Ronaldo, United ought to march on relentlessly to more honours this season……
Book author Julian Tabone starts a new series called “When the Roof was raised” about epic games at Old Trafford (quite a few to write about!) and starts with the game against Blackburn on the 31st March 2007. Don’t remember it? Read the article then……
“Random Red Thoughts”: Amongst other things, Editor Patrick Critien looks at the new players signed by Sir Alex during the summer, and their impact in the first few months of the season.
Club President Joe Tedesco writes an interesting article about his meeting Jimmy Murphy junior in Manchester, who very kindly presented the Club with a unique limited edition lithograph.
Visitors to the Club: We’ve had a few Red Celebs at the Club in the past few months; the Cromptons, Club physio Rob Swire, the Academy squad, as well as representatives from other United supporters’ clubs.
Three pages of brilliant photos all dedicated to the recent Academy squad’s visit to Malta. Truly fantastic memories…..
Book research expert Karm Galea’s “Mixed Mancunian Platter”, headed “who needs Cristiano Ronaldo?”: several very interesting snippets of news and historical details. Read it.
Matt Done writes about “This Season’s Performers”, those on the top of their game, those on the turn and those whose performance requires improvement.
Teddy’s Corner: your cloaked, hooded, mysterious columnist. One thing’s for sure: he sure don’t like Scousers!!
Do you want a detailed look at our “Season So Far”? If so, you only need to read James ‘Handy’ Handyside’s four-page long article which leaves no detail uncovered….
Part 22 of Club Founder John Calleja’s “Know Your United” looks at the year 1992, when we won the League Cup. Also a great 1975 picture of John with Jack Crompton and Paddy Crerand at The Cliff!
Finally, Part 18 of the very interesting series “Old Trafford, Theatre of Dreams” by Anthony Caruana, about the development of our wonderful Stadium.
Again, a great edition of the Echoes. Many thanks to our advertisers and all those who worked for the success of this magazine. We hope you enjoy the read!
